I want this blog to give you something that you can consider throughout your day..
How well do you know yourself?
Like really, truly KNOW who you are, what you value, what you want?
If you’re anything like I was, the answer is likely “not too much”…
And the truth is, even if you feel like you know who you are, you would be surprised to see how much you can find out about yourself just by taking the time to explore inwards…
Why am I telling you this?
Because one of the questions I get asked the most is “how have you managed to love yourself” or something along those lines…
And a HUGE part of this very long answer is: I got to know myself…
I built a relationship with myself..
I took the time to understand my core values, beliefs, strengths, weaknesses, desires, hopes, and dreams…
I uncovered what mattered to me most, and then I actively amplified that within my life, this had many benefits even outside self-worth…
But do you know what didn’t come up?
How I looked,
How others saw me.
By taking the time to build a relationship with myself, I could finally see that I genuinely didn’t need or value external validation…
I got to learn who I was, I understood it without the opinions of others — and then I learned to fall in-love with that…
If this seems far-fetched to you, think of it this way…
Picture in your head someone that you love, it could be a parent, a child, a friend, a spouse…
I’m sure you’ve noticed that they have ‘flaws’, perhaps not as much as you notice your own, but they have them…
Perhaps your partner has a very large nose or perhaps your friend is overweight…
Do you care?
Is that how you define them?
Is that what matters most to you about them?
And most importantly…
DO YOU LOVE THEM REGARDLESS?
Of course, you do! You love them unconditionally…
Now imagine if someone said to you, “your spouse has a big nose”…
Would that change how you view them?
Of course, it wouldn’t! Because that isn’t important to you, you love them anyway…
Love yourself anyway, regardless of what people say.
Love yourself unconditionally.
I know this is easier said than done, believe me I know…
I’ve been there, I’ve felt that pain, I LIVED that pain…
But I am living proof that regardless of where you start, if self-love is the end goal — you CAN get there…
I can’t promise you it will be easy…
But I can promise you it will be worth it!
